You can define your current location and countries you would like to visit, and search for other people with the same plans. Similar to Travelbuddy, not only for the name. You can add your travel plans and journey details to find travel buddies with similar intentions. Very good search, big community, easy to use and to find people. Good mobile app.
Live world travelers map (in beta). Easy to join. Advantage: You can see immediately and fast all travelers that are currently close to you.
A very good alternative to a specialized travelmate platform is Meetup.com. Here you find already a very big community of people who meet up in the “real life”. You can search for “travel” against your hometown or the preferred destination and then meetup other travelers.
Another long-existing platform that is not solely dedicated on travelmates, but highly useful also for this purpose – Especially if you have already a good profile as a host or traveller. If you haven’t done yet, create your account and search in your location for other travellers.
In the Helpx Travel Companion Forum you can see the profile of other travelers and their dream destinations. Search for travelmates is a little bit limitated. You can add your own companion wanted posting by filling in the form box Option3 when registering as a HelpX helper. Postings stay online for 3 months.

Thelma and Luise is a travel club – as the name implies – designed and run for women. You can search for other women specifically matching your criteria. Membership is free.
Very nice website with various forums and a good spirit. In this forum “Road dogs” you can find interesting people and travelmates. Limited in quantity of the offers, mainly USA, good for alternative people.
